Anti-Ragging
GitaRam Institute of Nursing is dedicated to creating a nurturing and secure environment where students can pursue their education without fear. Adhering to the University Grants Commission (UGC) recommendations (Regulations 2009; D.O. 1-15/2009(ARC) pt. III), our campus maintains a strict no-tolerance policy towards ragging. Any act of physical or mental abuse, including bullying or exclusion, is strictly prohibited.
In line with UGC guidelines, we ensure the following measures are in place:
- Comprehensive Training: All students, faculty members, and hostel staff receive training on how to detect, handle, and prevent ragging incidents.
- Active Anti-Ragging Committee: Our anti-ragging cell and committee, comprising student representatives and faculty members, actively work to spread awareness about the detrimental effects of ragging.
- Informative Resources: Anti-ragging pamphlets and resources are readily available to students to educate them on their rights and the support systems in place.
- Counseling Services: We offer free counseling sessions throughout the year, providing a non-judgmental space for students to express their concerns and frustrations.
- Surveillance: Strategically placed CCTV cameras across the campus help in early detection of any unruly behavior.
Our commitment to these measures ensures a safe and supportive environment, allowing every student to thrive and reach their full potential without fear of harassment or discrimination.

Anti-Ragging Strategies
All members of GitaRam Institute of Nursing are committed to maintaining a teaching and learning environment free from ragging. Our slogan is “Zero tolerance of ragging.” We will implement the following strategies to achieve this:
1. Counseling Session:
Organize a counseling session for freshers and their parents where all teaching and non-teaching faculty will be introduced. This session will provide necessary information and allow free interaction for positive bonding.
2. Orientation Program:
Conduct an orientation program to inform and educate freshers about our strict stance against ragging and assure them of their rights against any form of harassment.
3. Orientation Week:
After admission, a one-week period will be dedicated to orientation with the infrastructure, teaching and non-teaching faculty, clinical fields, senior student groups, and the academic program. Freshers will be introduced to all anti-ragging committee and squad members.
4. Parental Information:
Newly admitted students and their parents will be informed about the anti-ragging strategy of our institution.
5. Anti-Ragging Committee and Squad:
GitaRam Institute of Nursing has an anti-ragging committee and squad. The committee includes the Director of Nursing, Principal, senior teachers, non-teaching faculty, Warden, parents, student representatives, a social worker, and a local media person. The anti-ragging squad, selected by the head of the institution, includes a senior teacher, SNA advisor, class coordinator, and local non-teaching faculty.
6. Awareness Posters:
Anti-ragging posters will be displayed on every floor of the academic buildings and in front of classrooms. The names of the anti-ragging squad members will be displayed on the common notice board.
7. Mentoring Cell:
A mentoring cell consisting of the class coordinator, SNA advisor, and Warden will actively work to recognize and solve students’ problems.
8. SNA Responsibility:
Students in different positions of the SNA are responsible for noticing any incident of ragging and reporting it to the SNA advisor and the anti-ragging committee.
9. Complaint Handling:
If any complaints are lodged by students, the anti-ragging committee will investigate the matter and take prompt action against those involved in ragging.
